Our family was scheduled to drive to the Malawi border where our daughter is staying with her best friend. However 120 kilometers out of Nampula we had a serious tire blowout followed by a collapsed jack. Thankfully a transport truck came by and the driver and his crew jacked up my Land Rover and had us back on the road in less than an hour. We decided to turn back and get a new tire and jack. Now it looks like we won’t leave until Friday. We’d really like to get safely to pick up our daughter and then on to Tete province in time for Christmas.
I succeeded in buying new tires and tubes today for our vehicle and tomorrow I will have them fitted.
Thanks for your prayers.
David, may the Lord bless you and make it possible for your family to be together at Christmas.
I know how frustrating that this sort of thing can be (the tyres and jack story is familiar!) and you have my full sympathy.
I’ll add my thoughts and prayers, sounds like the everyday practical issues of life in Africa have not changed much in 20 years – though now you can sometimes log on to the ‘net and communicate with us (back then it took weeks for letters to go and return).
I do pray you’ll all be together, and that you have a very good Christmas!
I will pray for all of you! Please keep us posted!
Thanks for your prayers. We had a good trip today and will head into Malawi tomorrow and back into Tete province where we will celebrate Christmas. The road was dry today and the car ran great. It was wonderful to be reunited with our daughter. She has been having a lot of fun with her best friend.
Denise gave us an album of pictures for Christmas that is mostly of your family. While looking through it I will be praying for the Afri-Kers.
