I have nothing against Blogger (or Booger as I affectionately call it). But I personally prefer WordPress. It seems classier to me. It is ad free as far as I can tell. I like all the widgets and ding dongs you can put in the sidebar. But mostly the commenting and SPAM catcher system seems better to me. I get very little SPAM even though they periodically tell me things like “Akismet has protected you from 16,000 SPAM comments.”
But the real reason I don’t comment on Blogger blogs is that I live in Africa. I connect to the Internet through my cell phone and it is very slow. I set my browser to not load graphics and as a result I can’t see your word verification thingy to type it in. Plus, I think that if I have something worth saying about your post it is better for you if I say it on my blog (boosts your technorati rank and maybe sends some readers your way) and it is better for me because I can reply at leisure, possibly steal a few of your readers and the trackback system will automatically note my post on your blog.
So posting is cooler than commenting in a lot of ways. Please comment on this if you agree… actually just kidding. Why not put a post on your blog mentioning this post and we’ll both win.
And I’m sorry for calling Blogger “Booger.”

I have the thingy turned off…
Blogger is kind like that, allows technochallenged people to turn things on an off… I expect Wordpress does too, though I hear you need a training course in higher geekery to begin…
Actually, to begin with Wordpress, you definitely do NOT need a training course in higher geekery. I decided to try it out just to see how far I could get as a bona fide non-computer person, and was surprised to end up with a blog. Beyond beginning, though, well, I’m sure there are tons of things I have not a clue how to do. But, since I don’t know they can be done….well, it’s not that much of a problem!
Tim, I can turn off my WordPress word verification if I want (in fact I worked quite hard to get it switched on, that part definitely needed some geekery), and go back to having hundreds of spam comments a week.
