Hey everybody,
Do you ever wonder how Bible translations are funded? Where do projects like the Nyungwe Bible translation get funds to pay salaries, rent offices and print Scriptures?
In November I’m going to be highlighting a fund-raising campaign for the Nyungwe Bible translation. Their current fund is dipping dangerously close to zilch.
Since I live in Mozambique full-time I get to see Mozambican Bible translators at work. These believers work hard to produce Scriptures for their own people. Their pay in most cases is very modest. Because of the poverty of this country, it is unfeasible for the Mozambican churches to pay for translation projects. The Mozambican church contributes in many ways: through prayer, through time, through volunteering many hours of work without pay.
But those of us from developed countries can make a huge impact with our dollars, or pounds, or euros.
Please pray for this project. I am trying to get the information necessary to publicize this project.
This week I am helping Pastor Bata and Bernadino translate 1 Timothy into Nyungwe. Pastor Semo, the project coordinator has projected to finish translations of 1&2 Timothy, John and Genesis in the coming year.
Please note that this isn’t a fund-raiser for me. Support for my work in Africa comes from churches and believers in the U.S.
What do you think about this idea?
