Adopt A Day for the Nyungwe
Categories: Culture

Hey all,

I’ve been putting some work into getting everything set up for the first-ever online promotion of the Nyungwe Bible Translation project. It’s been my privilege to act as a consultant for this translation since 1999. Since that time much hard work has gone into translating the Bible and distributing it among the churches.

Currently, the Nyungwe project account is close to zero. So I thought I would try to encourage others to get directly involved in supporting the translation project.

The “Adopt A Day” concept is that you agree to adopt one or more days of the year 2008. On those days you do the following:

1. You pray for the Nyungwe people of Mozambique.

2. You provide for the operating expenses of the Bible translation project. (Currently about $30/day.)

3. You promote the cause of Bible translation in your community, church or web site.

I privately approached a few people with the idea of doing this and one of them responded by agreeing to adopt 40 days!

And this morning, I went online and made a contribution of $30 to the Nyungwe Translation through Wycliffe Bible Translators just to see if it would work! The process took me less than fifteen minutes. Click here to read more.

So the good news is that we are already on day 41 which is February 10, 2008. My goal is to have all the days adopted by the end of 2007.

If you would like to learn more about this project you can do it at the Nyungwe Bible Translation blog: http://nyungwe.wordpress.com
