There’s something cool about this photo taken on the sly with my camera phone. I like the washed out blue light and the reader lost in contemplation of the Easter story in Nyungwe. And I even like the second slightly-offstage participant.
For people who have never read the Bible in any other language, a translation of the Bible in their language is not a translation. It’s simply the Bible. The first time you ever read the Bible did you say to yourself, “Wow, this is a really good translation.” or “Wait a minute, that’s not what the Hebrew says?!?” Of course not, you just responded to God’s Word in your heart-language.
Until December 31, 2007 we’re promoting the Nyungwe Bible translation. You can find out more details about getting involved here. For the Nyungwe people it’s not a translation, it’s simply the Bible.
