Note: The title of this post is how you say “Thank you very much!” in Nyungwe.
Ndatenda kwene-kwene to the many people who made contributions to the Nyungwe Bible translation in November and December. Wycliffe Bible Translators in the USA received eleven contributions totaling more than $1,600 dollars. I have since received word from contributors in the US, England and even Japan saying that they are planning to contribute monthly to this project.
Missionaries from the UK working in Tete contributed 5,000 Meticais (about US$200) toward the Scripture sheets that we will be printing and distributing throughout province. Our initial goal is to publish 1,500 per month to distribute through churches and at bus stops. Eventually we hope to print 10,000 sheets per month containing Scripture portions from Genesis, Mark and 1 Timothy.
While financial support is tangible and easy to measure there are also a lot of people promoting and praying for the Nyungwe people. If you would like to receive email updates on the Nyungwe project, send me a private message and I’ll get you on the mailing list.
Again, Ndatenda kwene-kwene!
