The Bible on your cell phone
Categories: Uncategorized

Over at lingalinga I’ve posted a series on putting the Bible on your cell phone. These are all free and legal ways of sharing the Bible using cell phone technology. This is a big deal for me because the cell phone is the equivalent of the computer in the developing world. Here in Mozambique it is estimated that 1 in 10 people have cell phones. The number of computer owners is about 1 in 1000.

By the way, lingalinga has been morphing lately. I am tightening its purpose to:

  • A bilingual blog in English and Portuguese
  • about wireless media
  • with a focus on Mozambique
  • and a panoramic view of Africa

If you’re into geekery and development in Africa you might enjoy poking around there. I occasionally post in Portuguese but it’s mostly in English. Google Translator can help you with the Portuguese.

And, I’m in executive committee meetings all week so my blogging might be sporadic. I’ll try to sneak a peek at anything funny to keep me awake so make me laugh!

I just use OliveTree software — they have all the features I want and almost all the versions I want. Of course, some of their versions (but not all) require a fee.

I have the Bible for my PDA but not my cell phone.
