I wake to a sunny day.
Quiet rules and the war has gone away.
Children laugh and play.
Mothers sing while the clothes
Are drying on the line.
Could this be a sign?
Did the soldiers resign, today?

I heard on the news today.
A bomb went off in the marketplace.
The nations promised aid.
What in the world is wrong with the human race?
Have we lost our place?
Blind to our disgrace, today?

When will the men lay down their tools of war?
What are we fighting for?
