Psalterium Cyberium: Illuminate the cyber-psalter
Categories: Cyber-Psalm

I have finished publishing the first fifty Cyber-Psalms. In celebration I am going to be printing a Psalter with all fifty Cyber-Psalms. Before I do, I’m going to open it up to participation from all you readers out there.

The inspiration for this project is the medieval books of hours. The Cyber-Psalm book of hours will be an illustrated manuscript for the 21st century.

This book will be available in three formats:

  • A book published through Lulu.com
  • A free downloadable version
  • An audio podcast version

Here’s how you can get involved:

  1. Record yourself reading a favorite Cyber-Psalm.
  2. Artwork or hand-lettering of a favorite Cyber-Psalm
  3. Advertise this project

Whatever your contribution, just upload it and let me know by email. You can email submissions to me if they are 500K or less. I’d prefer you to upload your work to your own site.

To get started, check out the list of fifty cyber-psalms with their first lines: Cyber-Psalms

Are you going to tell us what the news is?

  3. David Ker says:

Obama has agreed to write a foreword for my book. (Just kidding)

But somebody really cool has agreed to contribute. Details to come soon.

As I really love calligraphy and reading aloud I think this is a brilliant project. First however I am going to have to print out all fifty cyber psalms and read them but I will certainly write about the project over the coming days – if that is the internet connection from Cyprus is ok!
I love the idea of blending the old traditon with the new.

Terrific! I’d like to see as much hand-lettering and decorated initials as possible.

If you’d like to wait a few days I’m preparing a basic PDF with all 50 cyber-psalms that might be easier than printing them out one by one.

Brilliant – my first post about it will go up tomorrow – as a result of you doing this I have wasted (well not really) a whole evening looking at calligraphy of the psalms online – there is fabulous stuff out there. Will wait for pdf before printing – my printer at work hates me anyway and refuses to work – I’m off to bed
    ciao!
