Thankfully, no one was hurt but our colleague, Jeni Bister endured a traumatic experience when three men broke into the house while she was staying there alone and demanded car keys.
Image: The Landie is still there. But our friends’ Toyota was taken.
The beloved Land Rover was not stolen. Apparently the thieves couldn’t figure out how to start it. However the Bisters’ Toyota Hilux was stolen and we would all like to ask for your prayers that it could be recovered.
Jeni has started a very good blog on their experience in Mozambique. You can check it out here: MozamWeek.
Jeni also informed me that our residency papers were stolen. Thankfully Jeni is good friends with a contact at immigration who will work to get something arranged for our return to the country.
You can see the Bisters’ Toyota in the background of this photo:
My prayers are with Mikael and Jeni.
Here’s a picture of the Bister family using another form of transport:

Dear Blisters’ it is certainly with sadness that I read of your loss of vehicle. Transportation as we all know is one of the keys to success in any part of the world. I am so glad though that Jeni was unhurt as she is the heart of your family, I am sure. Thoughts~Prayers with you from Duluth, MN. hh
David,
you and your friends are in your prayers. We should swap vehicle stories sometime. I have a few whoppers to tell about stolen vehicles myself.
Thank you all. We also found out that our residency papers were among the things stolen so that will be a pain in the neck to get those replaced. Price you pay for living in an awesome place like Africa!
We appreciate all your prayers! Since we couldn’t actually talk to the police about the robbery until about 7 hours later… and the border is only minutes away… the Starling Blue probably is living a new life in Lusaka or somewhere. We did pray that it would stop inexplicably in a public place leaving the thieves exposed!
We are not ignorant of the Devil’s schemes. Remember a certain other family that was robbed at gunpoint right before starting Bible translation in Tete?
Yes… and we weren’t made to lie on the ground with the guns pointed at us. It does make a big difference. I thought of you that night, actually! Greet the Kerkins!
