Now I remember what I meant to tell you earlier today. We have a winner. The third annual blurbathon was the best one ever. More than fifty blurbs gushing about the stupendousness of the Lingamish experience.
Unfortunately, you didn’t reach 100 blurbs so I won’t be reading the REB this year. In fact, I have to tell you a funny story. I actually went looking for an REB in the bookstore just to see what it looked like. The Borders I visited had a full aisle chest-high of NIVs and some NLTs and even some ESVs and KJVs and even that magazine thingy that’s not supposed to look like a Bible. But no REB.
Now, the winner is ElShaddai Edwards. I’ve been wanting an excuse to do something nice for him for a long time. First, he plays trombone. Such people ought to be encouraged. Second, he gave the BBB people tons of help with the design of the new blog. Third, when I quit blogging he left a very nice quote on my blog from The Little Prince.
Here are ElShaddai’s blurbs:
- Reading Lingamish makes me want to wallow in a wadi of words!
- Lingamish makes bombastic Bible bashing seem boring.
- Lingamish is the lentil soup of the Internet. You know it’s good for you, but you’re not exactly sure why…
- Lingamish: serving collared greens to lace collars for over three years.
- Lingamish is the Radar O’Reilly of the 4077th Natural English Bible Unit.
The winner is:

As a token of my appreciation I’m sending a little hippo schwag in ElShaddai’s direction. You can check out the video below for complete details:
Thanks to all of you who participated. You are all winners just for trying.

oh my god you’re hilarious david… elshaddai will get a kick out of that!
Hey Nathan, I’ve got 3/4 profiles shots of the hippo. Can you retouch them. I’m getting tired of the sideways photo.
That’s just awesome! Thank you, David – and yes, you’re as unlikely to find the REB in a US Christian bookstore as you would be to see lentil soup on our dinner table.
First, he plays trombone. Such people ought to be encouraged.
On the other hand, remember these (alleged) immortal words from Richard Wagner:
Second, he gave the BBB people tons of help with the design of the new blog.
My pleasure – I was glad to help out. And am glad to see the level of discussion picking up there again.
Third, when I quit blogging he left a very nice quote on my blog from The Little Prince.
It seemed appropriate – and now even more so as I’ve drastically cut down my own blogging time. I think I’m somewhere on step 6 or 7 of the Bloggers Anonymous recovery program…
